Free online study and focus timer
The Coworking focus timer is a free online study and focus timer. It runs in any browser without an account, keeps your tasks on your device, and plays a 24/7 lofi radio made with AI.
How does the study and focus timer work?
The Coworking study and focus timer works in rounds: 25 minutes of focus, then a 5-minute break. After every fourth round you get a 15-minute long break, so each round has a clear start and a planned stop.
- Add a task in the Tasks drawer and tap it, so it shows under the clock.
- Press Start, or the space bar, and focus for 25 minutes.
- When the chime plays, take a 5-minute break away from the screen.
- After four rounds, take a 15-minute long break. Your task counts the rounds you spent on it.
You can change the lengths in the settings at any time: focus from 1 to 120 minutes, short breaks up to 30 minutes and long breaks up to 60. Time you have already done in a round is kept. The Focus, Short break and Long break tabs above the clock switch phase in one tap, and you can tap the minutes or seconds on the clock to type your own time, such as 12:30.
What music plays on the lofi radio?
The lofi radio plays 150 instrumental lofi tracks made with Google's Lyria 3.5 music model, about 3 minutes each. Every listener of the Coworking lofi radio hears the same track at the same moment, like a radio station, and the music only starts when you press play. Each track is labelled with an occasion it suits:
| Good for | Mood of the tracks | Example track |
|---|---|---|
| deep work | rainy afternoon at a window desk | Inbox Zero (Someday) |
| late-night coding | late-night city with distant traffic | Coffee Gone Cold |
| an easy start | slow Sunday morning coffee | Tab No. 47 |
| reading | snow falling outside a warm room | Ctrl+S Serenade |
| studying | quiet library before closing | Reply-All Blues |
| winding down | summer evening on a rooftop | This Meeting Could Be an Email |
| writing | long train journey through the countryside | Low Battery Lullaby |
| creative work | autumn park with falling leaves | Snoozed Until Monday |
| early focus | calm dawn before everyone wakes up | Sticky Note Sonata |
| exam prep | candlelit study session | Deadline Drizzle |
| emails and admin | cozy café corner | Second Coffee |
| planning your day | foggy harbour at sunrise | Rubber Duck Debugging |
Do I need an account?
No. The Coworking focus timer needs no account and sets no cookies. Your tasks, the timer and your settings are saved only in your browser's local storage, so clearing this site's data deletes them. The page also connects to our live room to count who is here: for that, our server reads only your country, never your city, and you can switch it off with "Count me in" in the settings. The privacy policy explains the details.
Is the focus timer free?
Yes. The Coworking focus timer is free to use in any modern browser, on a computer or a phone.
How is it different from the Coworking Chrome extension?
The focus timer is for working on your own in any browser. The Coworking Chrome extension adds rooms: friends or colleagues share one timer, see who is working on what, and chat in Chrome's side panel.
